Dario Minieri (Italian pronunciation: [ˈdaːrjo minˈjɛːri]; born 1985) is an Italian professional poker player from Rome, Italy who won a bracelet at the 2008 World Series of Poker at the age of 23,^[1] is a member of team PokerStars,^[2][3] is an online poker player who was the first person to collect enough Frequent Player Points to buy an automobile with them, and is a three-time European Poker Tour final tablist.^[4]

Minieri, a top ranked online professional poker player, who plays on PokerStars under his own name 'Dariominieri', is known for being a high-stakes heads-up specialist with the site's highest rank of Supernova Elite^[5] and he became the first person ever to buy a car, a 2007 Porsche Cayman S, with 3 million frequent player points.^[6]

On January 27, 2008, Minieri won PokerStars $5,200 (winner-takes-all) Freezeout, a 20 player tournament in which the winner takes the $100,000 prize barring any deals. When the game was left with two players, known as heads-up play, Minieri and his opponent Isaac Baron requested that the game pause to look over a deal; the deal was offered based on their chip equity with $25,000 by rule set aside for the winner. Baron, who was down to a 3-1 chip deficit demanded a larger portion of the chop with the majority going to Minieri. Minieri refused the deal and went on to win the entire $100,000.^[7]

World Series of Poker[edit]

Minieri has cashed eight times at the World Series of Poker (WSOP). At the 2007 World Series of Poker Main Event, Minieri, who once was the chip leader coming off of day 3, finished in 96th place out of a field of 6358 entries.^[4]

The next year, Minieri won his first bracelet at the 2008 World Series of Poker in the $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em Six-handed event, beating out a field of 1,012 players, earning $528,418 his highest cash to date. In the final hand, with blinds 30,000/60,000 with a 5000 Ante, Minieri made a raise preflop to 125,000. His opponent Seth Fischer re-raised all-in and was called by Minieri's Q♠Q♦ to Fischer's K♦10♦ on a board of A♥A♦5♣2♣3♦.^[1][4][8]

At the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Baden, Austria (The Big Double 2006), Minieri finished 3rd in the €5,000 No Limit Hold'em event, earning €125,780 ($159,763).^[4]

At the EPT of Sanremo, Italy on April 5, 2008, Minieri held the chip lead at the beginning of the final table and finished in 3rd place for €287,600 ($454,366). In his final hand, Minieri was dealt Q♠Q♦. Minieri raised to 100,000 and Jason Mercier of the United States re-raised to 340,000 with A♦4♦, and Minieri called. After the flop came down 7♥2♦8♦, Mercier checked, and Minieri bet 400,000. Mercier then check-raised all-in with his nut flush draw. Minieri quickly called while ahead in the hand, putting his tournament life at risk with the two queens. The turn was the 4♥, giving Mercier even more outs and the 3♦ on the river made Mercier the winning flush to eliminate Minieri. Mercier went on to win the event.^[9]

In 2008, Minieri made a second EPT final table at the event in Warsaw and again finished in 3rd place, earning €123,162 ($153,619).^[4]

Mikita “fish2013” Badziakouski has won the 2020 European Poker Tour Online $1,000,000 guaranteed $10,300 buy-in no-limit hold’em high roller event. The Belarusian poker star outlasted a field of 109 total entries, striking a heads-up deal with Matthias “iambest2” Eibinger to secure the title and a top payout of $222,453.

This was Badziakouski’s 15th recorded tournament title. It brings his career earnings to more than $30.3 million, which places him just outside the top ten on poker’s all-time money list. Steve O’Dwyer, who occupies the 10th-place spot, has $31,268,703 in lifetime cashes, which is just $947,559 ahead of Badziakouski.

The final day of this event began with nine players remaining, with Eibinger in the lead and Christian “WATnlos” Rudolph in second chip position. Badziakouski began in the middle of the pack. Conor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford was the first to hit the virtual rail when his AJ failed to outrun the Q10 of Mike “SirWatts” Watson. Beresford earned $33,035 as the ninth-place finisher. Canadian high roller Timothy “Tim0thee” Adams was the next to fall, losing a classic race with K-Q suited against the pocket jacks of Daniel “SmilleThHero” Smiljkovic.

Eibinger extended his lead by being on the preferable side of a preflop cooler, with his pocket aces holding up against the pocket kings of Bert “girafganger7” Stevens (7th – $51,445). He added even more by knocking out EPT and WPT main event winner Mike Watson in sixth place. Watson picked up pocket kings and got all the chips in by the river, only to find that Eibinger had made a full house with Q-8 offsuit. Watson earned $67,006 for his sixth-place showing in this event.

Daniel Smiljkovic’s run in this event came to an end shortly after he ran A-J suited into the pocket queens of Christian Rudolph. He was left with less than an ante following that hand and was eliminated the following hand (5th – $87,274). Eibinger continued to expand his chip advantage by winning a race with A-7 against the pocket threes of “hello_totti”. Eibinger spiked a seven on the turn to take the lead, which he maintained through the river. “hello_totti” earned $113,673 for their fourth-place showing. Eibinger entered three-handed action with more than three times as many chips as the next largest stack, which belonged to Badziakouski. The Belarusian was able to close the gap a bit, though, before the next knockout occurred.

2020 World Series of Poker Online $25,000 high roller winner Christian “WATnlos” Rudolph opened with a min-raise to 200,000 from the button holding AJ. Eibinger three-bet to 750,000 from the small blind with AQ. Rudolph four-bet all-in for around 38 big blinds and Eibinger called. The board came down 107625 and Eibinger made an ace-high flush to take down the pot and eliminate Rudolph in third place ($148,058).

Heads-up play began with Eibinger sitting with 16,305,962 to Badziakouski’s 10,944,038 in chips. The two played a few hands before striking a deal that distributed the majority of the remaining prize money based on ICM numbers. The two agreed to do blind flips for the remaining $10,000 in prize money. It took three hands, with Badziakouski winning the first to overtake the lead and then the third to secure the title. Eibinger walked away with $221,564 as the runner-up finisher.
