Lunch at La Forge. This is a real treat when in Newport. Drive up to Bellevue Avenue and visit the Tennis Hall of Fame. The La Forge Casino Restaurant overlooks centre court and it is just a lovely site for lunch. I ordered the Lobster Roll and my date had the Irish Cuban; which is corned beef pickles and swiss cheese toasted on a sour dough bread.

Established in 1880, The Newport Casino was built as the result of a causal bet between James Gordan Bennet JR., owner of the New York Herald, & his guest, British Cavalry Officer, Captain “Sugar” Candy, for which Candy rode his horse into Newport’s most exclusive Men’s Club – The Reading Room.

Disgruntled at the other members’ less than congenial response, Bennet bought the land across from his Bellevue Avenue mansion & built his own club – THE NEWPORT CASINO.

It offered shops, concerts, balls, special events – never gambling – & a place for Newport’s summer residents & Newporters to gather. Now a national historic landmark, The “Casino” is today home of the International Tennis Hall Of Fame.

La Forge is ready to serve you! We are taking all the steps possible to keep our guests and staff safe and healthy:

  • Upon entering the building there will be a Purell station at the hostess stand.

  • Employees will be required to wear a mask at all times.

  • Employees will be wearing black gloves when necessary. They will change them after every interaction. When they are not wearing their gloves during interactions they will either be washing their hands with soap and water or using Purell to sanitize often.

  • Our employees will be required to do a check - in with management, including temperature checks and overall health check ins before they begin their shift.

  • Our restaurant will be using a sanitizing log. This will be documented every 30 minutes of a spray or wipe down of every high traffic surface areas/objects.

  • We have distanced our tables 8+ feet apart for your safety. We have also made sure to have 6 feet of walking by space when applicable.

  • Paper menus will be available to discard after every use but we strongly suggest using LaForgeNewport.com on your phones to order from.

There are a few things we ask of you:

  • We ask you to wear your masks as often as possible. Obviously enjoy our food and drinks mask free :)

  • We ask you to please follow Governor guidelines including:

  • Staying home when you feel ill

  • Calling ahead for a reservation so we may obtain all needed information for contact tracing

  • Staying 6 ft away from other guests.

  • And above all have patience with us while we transition into these new guidelines.
